About Our School

Crossroads Elementary School (CES) is a vibrant 21st‑century learning community serving approximately 600 PreK–5 students living in military housing aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico. Opened in 2015, CES brings together the students and traditions of three legacy Quantico elementary schools, creating a unified, collaborative environment where every child is known, supported, and challenged.

Our school is organized into ten education neighborhoods, each featuring four learning studios surrounding a shared hub. This design encourages teamwork, flexible grouping, and shared responsibility—every teacher in a neighborhood works collectively to meet the needs of every student. The building’s modern features include one‑on‑one learning rooms, conference spaces, common areas, a rooftop garden with a butterfly habitat, and real‑time energy monitoring of our wind turbine and solar panels. These spaces allow students to explore, create, and engage in authentic, hands‑on learning.

Instruction at CES is grounded in Project Based Learning, supported by Balanced Literacy and Balanced Math programs. Each day begins with collaborative planning among teachers and Instructional Support Specialists to ensure intentional, data‑driven instruction. Students participate in daily intervention and enrichment time tailored to their individual needs, and our special education and support teams provide services through individualized programs, co‑teaching, and collaborative planning.

Our schoolwide expectations—Self‑control, On task, Accountability, and Respect (SOAR)—guide students in every setting, from classrooms to common areas to the bus ride home. These shared values help us maintain a positive, consistent learning environment for all.
CES offers a full range of student services, including special education programs, speech and language therapy, occupational and physical therapy, literacy and math interventions, ESOL, counseling, psychological services, a full‑time nurse, and classes in music, art, and physical education. Students also benefit from our Advanced Academic Program and Information Center services.

Strong partnerships with families and the community are central to our mission. Our Parent/Teacher Association (PEA) supports schoolwide programs and hosts events throughout the year, working closely with the school to adapt activities as needed. Our Adopt‑A‑School partnership with the Officer Training School (OCS) and volunteer support from Quantico Middle/High School students further enrich our school community.
At Crossroads Elementary School, we are proud to learn, grow, and SOAR together. We look forward to another great year with our CES Eagles!
